MO State Board Extends Riverview Gardens State Administrative Board
RGSD State Administrative Board Extended Through June 2022
On Tuesday (5/14), the Missouri State Board of Education voted to extend the special administrative board overseeing Riverview Gardens School District through June 30, 2022.
RGSD lost its accreditation in 2007 after years of poor academic performance and financial distress. The District regained provisional accreditation in 2016 and remains at that status currently.
Along with the vote to extend the special administrative board, the MO State Board appointed Mary Oswald to serve on the special administrative board. Oswald is a former teacher and member of the RGSD elected board.
With the improvement currently underway in RGSD, there is hope the district could return to the locally elected board in the near future. The State Board voted to return St. Louis Public Schools to local governance back in April.
